On the ides of March, following the declaration of National State of Disaster by the government of South Africa and subsequent announcements about the implementation of travel restrictions and public gathering limitation – among other measures to be put in place to counteract the spread of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus in South Africa – IT News Africa is postponing this year’s Internet of Things Forum Africa, which was set for 25 – 26 March 2020.
Following consultation with the relevant agencies and partners, and taking into account the recent announcement by the President of the Republic of South Africa, IT News Africa is postponing the event to 26 – 27 August 2020, which is when the period of national disaster is expected to be under control, and the general public better informed.
“The health and safety of our delegates, exhibitors and speakers are of utmost importance to us and delaying the event is meant to ensure that current restrictions will not prevent participants from attending the event in comfort,” reads a statement from IT News Africa about the postponement.
“In the meantime, we will continue to send updates on the conference,” concludes the statement.
